Hilton Nagoya Halloween Sweets Buffet

Dude treated me to the Halloween Sweets Buffet at the Hilton in Nagoya on Friday, 10/29!

After a brief gestational diabetes scare (Yes, I’m pregnant. 30 weeks at the time I’m writing this), a more thorough test came out negative. I am, in fact, in the clear and can enjoy sweets. I usually try to keep my artificial sugar intake on the low side, but this was a special day.

We’d normally do this sort of thing on a weekend, but Dude was able to get a half day off. We also had a prenatal health check later in the evening. Not the best timing because my weight was checked after enjoying a buffet, but I’m not the type to turn down a Halloween buffet.

Arrival

We arrived at the Hilton Nagoya a bit before 2:45 and parked without any problems. Upon exiting the elevator, we could already see a line of people filing into the buffet space. Turns out that they let you in early to get you seated and ready for start. Buffet guests could also walk around and take photos of the still untouched buffet displays and enjoy the drink selection while waiting.

I was a little worried about what I’d wear because I can’t wear most of my clothes now, but I have a cute flowy free-size witchy-sorcerery dress that fit the Halloween perfectly. A few people showed up in Halloween themed clothing and most of the buffet staff had cute Halloween headbands on.

The Buffet Starts

The buffet explainer and schedule

The buffet started at 3PM on the dot. We got in and out with a couple of plates of cake as soon as we could. That first plate took a while because everyone there was trying to get their selections at once. It quickly settled down.

The cake was excellent, as one would expect of Hilton. The one and only major miss was the eyeball jelly and that’s just because of the coffee flavor at the bottom. Dude loves coffee, so I handed it off to him after one bite.

Some of my favorites were the Mont Blanc, which was made live in front of buffet guests, the jet black Dubai shu because the pistachio was so good, and the black sesame pudding.

We had an hour and a half to enjoy the buffet, but we filled up pretty quickly and spent half of the time just relaxing and enjoying the drink bar before joining the line to pay and heading out.

Heading out

Paying took a while, and there was an impressive line for the ladies’ restroom. There’s a sign saying they have more restrooms upstairs. I really should’ve just gone to that one. Something to remember for next time.

Parking for the non-staying guests was also free for 3 hours if you paid 10,000円 or more. The buffet was 5,500円 per person, so that was pretty easy for us to meet.

By the way, the buffet is free for children 0-5 years old, and half priced for children up to 12 years old. A pretty good deal for a swanky buffet.
